C. Bailey, Jr.: Staying Active and Planning
for the Future
"The Promenade will have a heck of a lot of activities, and I’ll be able to continue my volunteering too," says Lowell Bailey.
Lowell’s busy life includes serving as a docent at the Desert Botanical Garden; membership in the Mended Hearts support group, which he joined with his late wife; and volunteering for Senior Olympics and Visiting Nurses. He also participates in an exercise program at Phoenix College.
Lowell is pleased with his decision to move to Promenade, because he knows he’ll be able to stay active in his varied interests and be prepared for whatever the future holds.
"I’ll get everything there, from complete independence right now to help down the line if I need it," Lowell says. And even if he picks up new interests down the road, Lowell feels sure the "forward thinking" Promenade will accommodate his needs.
John and Rosie Sells: Fulfilling Their Dream of Calling The Promenade Home
“We were at church when they decided to build The Beatitudes Campus 40 years ago,” Rosie Sells remembers. “We always knew we’d go there.”
Three children, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a lifetime of memories later, Rosie and her husband, John, are excited about moving to a community with so much to offer – including on-site health care, should they ever need assistance.
Although many new communities have appeared since, The Beatitudes always held a special place in John and Rosie’s heart.
“I feel like I own the Beatitudes because I’ve worked there at the lodge desk and volunteered. After I went to the Promenade brunch, I started encouraging my friends to go with us. I’d say 15 or so couples have signed up since, and three or four of my widow friends as well,” Rosie says.
Beverly Graham: The Promenade Is a Good Match for Me
"My daughter is in Dallas. I looked at communities there but didn’t find anything close to The Promenade. It just suits me," says Beverly Graham.
Beverly’s connection with Promenade goes back a generation. Her mother lived at Beatitudes, and her husband served on the board. Now that she’s chosen Promenade, she’s confident that her good health and early move will give her plenty of time to get settled and really feel at home.
Another factor that helped Beverly choose Promenade was its proximity to family and friends. "I have a son in Phoenix. And my bridge club is moving here together. We’re all very excited," Beverly says.
Beverly can’t wait to start enjoying time with friends and freedom from home maintenance. She adds, "At Promenade I really feel like they’ll do their best to accommodate my life."
